Enter to win a Starbucks Gift Card by Commenting Below with an idea.
I found this Coca Cola Bottle Crate in a little antique store. I talked the store owner down to $10 which is pretty good given the age and it is a vintage Coca Cola item. Usually you can pick these up for about $30 dollars. I have looked around and have seen these crates upcycled as pet beds or spice racks. I want to do something different. I have always thought of the old proverb: two heads (in this case many heads) are better than one. So I would love it if you would comment with your ideas of inspiration and tell me what you would do with this crate? Let the ideas spring forth!
The dimension of the holes in the crate are 3″ wide x 3″ long x 4″ deep.
Oh almost forgot the good part! The top three ideas that I choose will receive a modest Starbucks gift card and then we will get to vote on the three ideas and the winner will get bragging rights of the best idea! To be eligible for the Starbucks cards you must comment on this site.

Not sure of the size from the picture but I was thinking a wine rack or maybe screw it into a wall and display small nic nacs and pictures in stand up frames in it. Or if you collect things like mugs or small cups and saucer sets you can display them in it. (I love coffee and collect ceramic mugs)
Another thought is you can put small potted flowers in it and display them in a garden or on a deck or porch. I would water proof it first if possible.
Sorry my thoughts don’t all come together at one time. Another idea is hang it on a wall in your kitchen and put potted fresh herbs in it for cooking. I love to cook so I would totally do that. And of course I would leave it as is and not paint it. Just a clear waterproofing if it is going to be outside. It has character the way it is now. I think I’m done.:D
It could be a mail box for a company, or a interesting cd rack.
or a shoe holder. or you could make it into an interesting advent calendar for next December. Chris.
Chris,
Thank for posting your ideas! Since the holes on the crate are only 3″x3″ an advent calendar is a great idea.
Oh, my gosh!!! I see a baseball dream here!!! Awesome way to display collector and/or meaningful game baseballs. America’s fav pastime with America’s fav beverage and you have any “man cave” dream!!! LOL You could create a lip of sorts to avoid “roll-out”.
Baseballs in a Coca Cola crate couldn’t get anymore American then that can you?
put small bottles in the holes, and it would work great for organizing nuts, bolts, nails. then the bottles could be labeled for easy use. just nail it up in the garage!
A lot of people take organizing their garage or workshop to a whole new level. It would look nice in any workspace.
Ok, maybe a little goofy and would need one of my engineer guys to help but turn it on it’s side, put little light bulbs in each pocket and hang it over a pool table or in a man cave. In my house, it would be in Jake’s music room.
Very cool idea! Making it into a pendent light. Love it! Not goofy at all. Totally a Man Cave thing!
Angela,
You lucky dog! I just saw on Pinterest where someone used a soda crate to organize craft supplies. I thought about how adorable that would be, but how on earth would you find one?! Here is the link…

Take care,

I bought a RC cola crate yesterday for 3.00. I have a coca cola one that my turned into a wagon by adding wooden chassis and wheels. Really cute for display. Not sure what u will do with the one I just bought though. Thinking of adding legs and glass top and making a side table out of it and using the inside to display collectables. Gotta think outside the box. Lol
I love your ideas! Especially, the side table. How of the “out of the box”. I am still trying to figure out how to wire mine into a light without electrocution…lol.
You could get those party lights (umbrella lights) and take the decorations off, take the light bulb out, drill a hole in the bottom of the box for each square you wish to have a light shine through, put the bulb on the inside to help hold it in place. You might need two strands of lights. Use chain to hang it and an extension cord that you can plug both lights into.
OH my gosh! That sounds so much easier than what I was trying to do. Where do you get party lights (umbrella lights)? Thanks you so much for the tip!
