I don’t know if I would call this a DIY failure or the lack of seeing the big picture. During Crafty CiCi’s Snow Globe within a Snow Globe project, we had the “perfect storm” for a situation . I put a VERY curious 2-year-old within arms reach of a package of glitter canisters. I think in my grandmotherly bliss and ignorance, I truly believed that she would never be able to get the package or the tightly capped glitter.
I turned to plug-in my glue gun, (probably 10 second)s suddenly an explosion of purple glitter over her, me, the table, the floor and anything within a five foot radius. She thought it was the funniest thing ever to see grandma covered in purple sparkles. In retrospect it was pretty funny. It is a little amazing that in a few seconds, she got the package, ripped it open and opened the lid and well you know the rest of the story.
The Lesson I learned? Though probably pretty obvious to most, however apparently not to me, when doing crafts with little ones, you need to REALLY have eyes in the back of your head and always expect the unexpected. Or you may experience it raining glitter and the aftermath.
